El Gouna Film Festival Gets Postponed Following Tragic Events in Palestine

El Gouna Film Festival has announced new dates to its schedule. This comes in consideration of the disastrous crisis happening in Palestine. The new dates are October 27th to November 2nd, 2023. It was supposed to begin its activities this Friday, October 13th, and last for a week until the 20th. The decision comes as a reflection of the festival’s slogan, ‘Cinema for Humanity.’

We firmly believe in the profound power of cinema to unite people, as we also understand the weight of the current situation and the importance of collective reflection. It is crucial that we provide space for healing, understanding, and solidarity to prevail. Our commitment to showcasing the impactful work of our talented youth and emphasizing the transformative nature of cinema remains unwavering

In its 6th edition, the El Gouna Film Festival appointed Jasmila Zbanic as the President of the Feature Narrative Competition. El Gouna Film Festival was founded in 2017 by Engineer Naguib Sawiris, in collaboration with actress and producer Bushra Rozza, international event organizer and CEO of I-Events Amr Mansi, and film producer Kamal Zadeh. The initiative gained strength and momentum with the support of El Gouna founder Engineer Samih Sawiris, and the support of many private sector sponsors. The festival is presented under the auspices of the Egyptian Ministry of Culture.
